The entire arrangement where the statue will be placed is expected to take the height of the structure to 216 feet

Hyderabad: Mega statues seem to have become the favourite method of expressing devotion towards God in the two states. There are five to six statues planned ranging from 50 feet to above 200 feet of Gods and saints by devotees, of which the largest will be in Hyderabad.

The humongous tall statue will be of Sri Ramanujacharya, a revered Hindu saint, which will be nearly 84 feet and will be placed on a 54 feet pedestal.

The entire arrangement where the statue will be placed is expected to take the height of the structure to 216 feet.

The statue has been promised to be built by the spiritual guru, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy over 40 acres of land near Shamshabad by 2017, the 1,000th birth anniversary of the saint.

Other than this, a 51 feet tall Hanuman statue is to be built by a private body of the Hindu God Hanuman at Ganga Bowli, in Hyderabad.

It is not just mega statues but also mega temple complexes that have been planned. In the city’s outskirts a private body wants to build a spiritual city with 108 replicas of famous temples from across the country.
