Police booked eight persons, including three women for the incident

Visakhapatnam: Angry family members, including women, of a youngster, who was caught driving drunk, stormed a police outpost, damaged a police jeep and roughed up a traffic constable at Thagarapuvalasa junction in the district. The incident came to light on Tuesday.

Police booked eight persons, including three women for the incident. According to the Bheemili police, Potnuru Ravi, 19, was stopped by traffic head constable S. Appalaraju and others during a routine check in Vizag. Ravi was tested positive with alcohol content recording 45 ml.

Mr Appalaraju seized Ravi’s vehicle and asked him to pay the fine in court the next day. In an inebriated state, Ravu left the place.

Later, he came to the police outpost along with his family members and associates, and demanded his bike be released. As the cops refused to do so, the irate family attacked the constable, vandalised the outpost and damaged the police jeep. Ravi’s family members were so irate that his sister jumped onto the police Rakshak jeep and damaged it.

On information, police teams rushed to the spot to being the situation under control. However, the group fled by the time the cavalry arrived. A cases against eight persons is booked.
