Dr K Narayana wants Hyderabad High Court to intervene

Narayana wanted a probe to be monitored by the High Court into the corrupt practices
Hyderabad: CPI leader Dr K. Narayana on Tuesday asked the Hyderabad High Court to intervention in the cash-for-vote scam, implementation of Constitutional values and the People's Representation Act.
He moved a public interest litigation stating that elections had become very corrupt in both Telangana and AP, right from the Panchayat level to Parliament. He said though thousands of cases were booked against candidates during the 2014 elections, the Election Commission was silent. Citing the cash-for-vote scam, Mr Narayana said such corrupt practices took place even in the erstwhile united AP state but no one was caught red handed. He told the court that though many Opposition MPs and MLAs defected to ruling parties, the Speakers of Parliament and the Assemblies concerned were delaying action on complaints under the anti-defection law.
He said even the Constitutional head of the state remained a silent spectator in respect of inducting an opposition party MLA into the Telangana cabinet. Delay in taking decision by the Speakers on the pending applications was leading to horse trading of MLAs during elections.
Dr Narayana urged the court to direct the Election Commission of India, Telangana and AP state Assemblies to take action on corrupt practices and anti-defection complaints. He wanted a probe to be monitored by the High Court into the corrupt practices.
