Attorney-General to Governor: Put K Chandrasekhar Rao on notice

If KCR failed to respond in 3 days, Governor may issue notification at his discretion

Hyderabad: Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi has advised Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to send a draft notification of Section 8 of the AP Organisation Act to Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and ask him for his views.

The A-G, in his reply to the Governor said that if the Telangana CM failed to respond in three days, the Governor may issue the notification at his discretion. He stated that the Governor’s word would be final in this respect.

In a written reply to the Governor, Mr Rohatgi stated, “Firstly, the notification which you wish to issue under Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act must be preceded by consultation with the council of ministers of the state of Telangana.

You may send the draft notification to the CM of Telangana and ask for his views. You may, in your discretion give three days to respond, where after you may issue the notification as per your discretion. If valuable comments are received from the Chief Minister, you may incorporate the same in the notification, but the final word is that of the Governor.”

It read further: “The draft of the notification may be prepared by your advisers. You may take care to direct not only the officers and employees of Government of Telangana, but you may direct the government itself.”
