Randeep Hooda to star with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Sarabjit biopic

Mumbai: Randeep Hooda has now been finalised for the role of Sarabjit Kaur in the biopic directed by Omung Kumar. The much-in-news film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit’s sister.

Confirming the news Omung says,“ Yes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda are going to be apart in my next Biopic Sarbjit".

The film revolves on the struggle of a sister, Dalbir to release her brother from Pakistan. Sarabjit, an Indian national, was convicted of terrorism and spying by a Pakistani court and sentenced to death in 1991 but the government had stayed his execution for an indefinite period in 2008.

Dalbir fought for her brother's release from the Lahore jail but her quest ended tragically when he died in 2013 following a brutal attack by fellow prisoners.

The film will begin shooting in Punjab this October and is expected to be a 70 days shooting schedule. The film is slated to release next year in May.
