Metro set to open 17th store
Hyderabad: Metro cash and carry, one of India’s leading wholesaler will open its third distribution centre in Hyderabad with an investment of about Rs70 crore spread across an area of 60,000 sq feet. “After opening two outlets in the city before the division of the state, we are opening our third distribution centre in Hyderabad after the formation of Telangana with an investment of around Rs70 crore,” said Rajeev Bakshi, managing director, METRO cash and carry India.
“This centre will serve small and mid-sized traders, hotels, caterers and restaurants in Shamshabad,” he added. With this centre, the company will have 17 outlets across India and plans to expand to 50 centres by 2020. For Hyderabad, in particular, Mr Bakshi said that it has potential to accommodate two or more such centres.
“90 per cent of the food items available at the store are sourced locally,” Mr Bakshi added. Each distribution centre will provide employment to about 300 people, out of which locals will constitute 80 per cent of the workforce.
