ITC director Chittaranjan Dar and ITC Telangana head Sanjay Singh have received permit papers from Chief Minister K. The total investment component is Rs1,501 crore and the industries would provide employment to 3,317 people.“GSK Glaxo Smithkline, Pfizer, Merck are keen to establish industries in the state. I met the CEOs of these companies on the sidelines of Bio International Convention during my visit to US recently. They will be sending their teams in the next couple of months to study the environment here. Glaxo and Pfizer are going to set up their units in pharmaceutical sector in the city,” Mr Krishna Rao told Deccan Chronicle.
Zimmer, a giant in musculoskeletal health care has also shown interest in setting up a research and development wing as well as manufacturing units in medical devices park.“During a meeting with Ms Cate Thorin, its vice-president, I invited them to visit Hyderabad. If it materialises, their unit will be the first medical devices unit in India,” Mr Krishna Rao said. Thailand has also evinced interest to set up an industry of medical devices and a team of pharmacists and experts will visit the city soon, he added.
For the first time, permit letters to set up the units were given in just 10 days time.“This is a record of sorts. Earlier, it took even six months for the permission of the Pollution Control Board. This is the first instalment of permissions after the grand launch of TS-iPASS, the state’s industrial policy, and some other companies are also in the pipeline,” the Chief Minister said. “We have liberalized the policy by bringing in single-window system. We will provide water, power, and land free of cost depending upon the unit. I request industrialists to make use of the incentives dolled out, he added.
