Vigilance submits action taken report on bargate to Lok Ayukta

The Lok Ayukta will take up the report for consideration at its sitting next Tuesday

Kochi: The Vigilance director on Monday submitted the action taken report on a petition seeking vigilance probe against four ministers including finance minister K. M. Mani in the bargate scandal to the State Lok Ayukta. It is understood that the report, submitted in a sealed cover, also includes the quick verification report on the alleged involvement of excise minister K. Babu in the scandal.

Social worker Khalid Mundappilly had moved the Vigilance director seeking quick verification against four ministers, including home minister Ramesh Chennithala, health minister V. S. Sivakumar and revenue minister Adoor Prakash, apart from Mr Mani, based on the statements by bar owner Biju Ramesh. He had also moved the quasi-judicial anti-corruption agency, Lok Ayukta, seeking a direction to the vigilance director to initiate a probe against the ministers.

The Lok Ayukta will take up the report for consideration at its sitting next Tuesday.
