Land denotification case: 3 more FIRs against BS Yeddyurappa
BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police investigating illegal land denotification cases, registered three more FIRs against former Chief Minister and BJP vice president B.S. Yeddyurappa on Monday.
With this, the number of cases registered against the BJP strongman has gone up to 10. The police of the anti-corruption agency had filed three and four FIRs against the former CM on Friday and Saturday respectively.
The three FIRs were filed in connection with alleged illegal denotification of 2.36 acres of land in Banashakari Fifth Stage, four acres of land in Valagerahalli in Jnanabharathi, and two acres of land in Rachenahalli in Arkavathy Layout, the Lokayukta police said.
The Ayukta police are investigating the illegal denotification of land following a complaint filed by one Jayakumar Hiremath, based on the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report in 2012 – Denotification of land by government and allotment of sites by BDA. The complaint was filed with the Lokayukta by Mr Hiremath in 2014. The case was referred to the CID for a preliminary enquiry.
Now, based on the CID report that there were irregularities in denotification of land, the Lokayukta police have started registering FIRs to initiate a detailed probe into the scam.
Former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy has challenged the Congress government to file a case against him rather than against former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa of the BJP who is already facing several cases.
The JD(S) state president told reporters in Davangere that the government has filed 3-4 cases against Yeddyurappa on the basis of the CAG report. “Mr. Yeddyurappa has already suffered a lot, but the government is still filing cases against him. Let them file a case against me also”, he said but quickly added that this did not mean he was being sympathetic to Yeddyurappa.
