Elvis Stephenson's security upgraded to CM, Governor level

Hyderabad: The latest person to get top level security in Telangana along with the likes of the Chief Minister, leaders of Opposition and home minister, is none other than nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson, the man who brought the cash-for-vote scam to light.

A bulletproof car, round-the-clock armed guards, four-plus-four personal security officers (gunmen) and an escort police vehicle have been provided to Mr Stephenson.

A senior official of the City Security Wing said, “There is no categorisation done like ‘Z’ or ‘Z plus’. As emergency measures due to a serious threat perception to Elvis Stephenson, we have given him strong security cover.

A bulletproof car is being given...also, a police escort vehicle will accompany him wherever he goes. A guard will be stationed at his house on eight-hour shifts and a platoon has been allotted for the same.”

Usually an MLA gets two-plus-two security cover. “In Telangana, we are giving two-plus-two security to all MLAs. This is a special case and only for the time being,” said an official.
