Family suspects MLA T Ramachandran’s role in murder

Man already slapped with Goondas Act for involvement in multiple murders
Coimbatore: Family members of a CPI (Marxist-Leninist) activist, L. Baskar, alias Gunasekaran, who was killed by goons in 2013, submitted a petition to west zone IG K. Shankar on Monday suspecting the role of a CPI MLA T.Ramachandran in the murder.
“My brother was kidnapped from Denkanikottai on March 18, 2013, when a missing person case was registered at the Thally police station. A few days later, the police secured V. Manjunath Reddy, who confessed to having killed Baskar along with four others. They slit his throat and set his body on fire,” said Baskar’s brother L.Viswanathan from Denkanikottai in his petition to the IG.
One of the accused had confessed to cops that Thally MLA had conspired and executed the murder through them. “The person had told police that the MLA had conspired with six others, while he was lodged at the Salem central prison in connection with the murder of PDK activist T. Palanisamy, and executed the murder of Baskar by deploying a gang,” he said.
The petitioner urged the cops to reopen investigation in the case and arrest the MLA, who is now out on bail, at the earliest. “He might have murdered my brother due to political reasons,” he said.
T. Ramachandran, who represents the Thally assembly constituency, has already been slapped with the Goondas Act for his alleged involvement in several murders and other anti-social activities. The west zone IG K.Shankar, on receiving the petition, promised to look into the complaint and take necessary action.
