A sci-fi movie on the block
Ravi Kumar is excited about directing Indru Netru Naalai, a sci-fi comedy starring Vishnu Vishal and Mia George. Touted to be the first travel film in Tamil, Ravi hopes that the movie would set an example for filmmakers in the future to experiment without any fear. A former assistant to Nalan Kumarasamy in Soodhu Kavvum, Ravi says he always wanted to do something different — something that nobody has ever attempted.
“This film is based on my short film. I have always been fascinated by computer graphics and that’s why I chose to do a science fiction movie. I am sure that this film will attract a lot of youngsters to the theatre as there’s a lot of scope for creativity and imagination. In sci-fi films, there’s always an element of excitement and curiosity” Ravi tells DC.
“Science as a subject might be boring, but not when it comes to cinema. Instead of explaining time travel, I have shown the journey of my lead characters through time. In Hollywood, such films are common. I wanted this to be shown to Kollywood audiences,” he adds.
