My parents are proud of my work: Kareena Kapoor Khan

Actress talks about Saif and her bond with her mum Babita and sister Karisma

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who plays a teacher in the film Bajrangi Bhaijaan, says, “I remember as a school kid I would always run in the opposite direction when I saw my teacher. I loved to bunk my classes and watch films. I hated studies.”Marriage has not slowed down her acting career in any ways. She says, “I am an independent working woman and proud about the fact that I am working even after getting married. This is an apt reply to those who feel that actresses are not successful after marriage.”

“Saif is a very different man. His mother, Sharmila Tagore, worked after getting married and is working even after becoming a grandmother. Saif fully understands the logic of me liking to be in the profession even after marriage. I am a responsible girl. I strike a balance between my profession and my married life. My parents have bought me up in that manner.”

She adds, “I like to be part of commercial films as it keeps me connected to my fans. Saif is proud about the fact that I worked with Anil Kapoor in Bewafa and now will be playing Arjun Kapoor’s wife. This is indeed a great thing for me. I am keeping up to the trend Neetu Singh has accomplished — working with all the generations of her times.”

Adding more about Saif, she says, “Saif loves to watch CNN, therefore I watch Hindi films while I am on a long distant flight. Nowadays he is watching Hindi films as he wants to know what exactly people like in films.”Her bond with her elder sister Karisma is well known. She says, “My sister is my best critic and she tells me what is right and what is wrong. I like to take her criticism in my stride.”

“Meanwhile my mother (Babita) is a relaxed woman, she loves to watch Hindi masala films. She belongs to the old school of thought. For her the money spent on the ticket needs to be recovered by being entertained. Both my parents are proud of my work. I too love to choose films which will make them proud.”
