Apple may get rid of the plastic antenna strips on iPhone
According to a recently filed patent application, Apple is working on a new look for the iPhones. The antenna strips running across the back of the iPhone is what Apple is working on. The tech giant is planning to get rid of those to give the iPhone a complete metallic look.
The patent filed by Apple talks about developing a new composite metal material that looks and feels like anodised metal, but is transparent enough for radio frequencies to pass through. Apple plans to use that material not only for the antenna strip, but also to coat the touchpad on Mac, and it could also be used as a component of the touch screen display.
However, Apple till now has only filed for the patent, and there is no official statement from Apple on the implementation of the material on its products any soon.
