TPCC begins campaign for GHMC polls
Hyderabad: The main Opposition Congress on Sunday launched its campaign for the GHMC elections with Assembly constituency-wise meetings, with almost all bigwigs taking part.
These meetings will be continue till June 26 and cover all 24 Assembly segments in the GHMC area.
Addressing a meeting at Nandaninagar in Khairatabad constituency, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the party would seek votes on the basis of its contribution to the development of Hyderabad from 2004 to 2014.
He said without grounding any major work in the city, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had launched the Swachh Hyderabad campaign to get votes. Mr Rao was making a series of “false promises”. The TPCC chief and Mr Danam Nagendar, chief of the Greater Hyderabad party unit, released a brochure titled The Golden Decade of Hyderabad 2004-2014 prepared by city party incharge Shabbir Ali, Leader of Opposition in the Council.
Mr Shabbir Ali said the Congress regime had spent more than Rs 1 lakh crore to make Hyderabad a ‘Must See Destination’. He said Congress government had spent Rs 2,478 crore on the international airport, Rs 6,696 crore on the ORR and Rs 600 crore on the PVNR expressway among others. He said all three phases of the Krishna project to get water to the city, and the first phase of the Godavari project were started by Congress governments.
