Thiruvananthapuram stretches together on International Yoga Day
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Government departments, schools, NGOs and residence associations celebrated yoga day with fervour on Sunday after roping in practitioners to preside over their programmes.
Medical College hospital officials said that a media personnel identified as Girish, 35, ended up at with three stitches on the head after he lost his balance and fell down when an Asana went wrong.
In Aruvikkara, Union minister for law Sadananda Gowda took part in yoga along with BJP State President V. Muralee-dharan and O Rajagopal who is the party’s candidate for local bypolls.
Around 50,000 National Cadet Corps (NCC) Cadets participated in 81 venues across Kerala and Lakshwadeep. IPS officers under state police Chief T.P. Senkumar did yoga at the Central Stadium. Jail DGP Loknatha Behra inaugurated a 15-day yoga camp at Central Jail, Poojapura.
In the largest in the city, a crowd of 3025 including army men and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Pandode did Yoga at the Pangode military camp under station commander Brigadier Samir Salunke.
As many as 560 Children from Sainik School Kazhakootam, cadets from St Vincent’s HS Kaniyapuram, HSS Azhoor and St Xavier’s College, Thumba performed Yoga at Sainik School under the watchful eyes of AYUSH practicioners Dr Vasundhara and Dr M. Rajeev Kumar.
Meanwhile, the Yoga session at Southern Air Command was supervised by Sree Prakash, State Coordinator, Art of Living Foundation and Mr Sanu, Lecturer in Yoga Kerala University,
Sessions at Kendriya Vidyalaya SAP camp was presided over by principal S. Ajaya-kumar.
School of Santhi led programmes at Museum, Vizhinjam Coast Guard station and Nedumangaud Muthumari Amman temple hall.
