Telangana realtors see red over prices
The TS government and the real estate sector are at loggerheads over revision of market value of land in urban and rural areas from August 1.
The government has come out with revision proposals, effecting up to 30 per cent hikes, and has sought objections and suggestions from all stakeholders by July 15.
Areas like Jubilee Hills have been left out of the revision where market values have already reached saturation levels.
The government has focused most on the surrounding districts of Hyderabad — Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar and Med-ak — that are witnessing a realty boom of late.
The realty sector fears that any hike now will adversely affect property transactions in TS besides making housing unaffordable for middle and lower income groups.
They want the state to implement revised rates, if at all, from next year since the realty sector has started picking up only recently post bifurcation of the state.
