9 lakh voters yet to get Aadhaar card
Visakhapatnam: It’s only 10 days left to link your voter ID card with Aadhaar or else, you may end up losing opportunity to vote in the coming elections. Until now, in Vizag district, only 66.4 per cent of the voter IDs have been linked to their Aadhaar.
During a recent door-to-door survey by the teams appointed by the district administration and election authorities across the district, they found around 47,000 voters twice in the list and around 56,000 voters dead. There are around 34 lakh voters in Vizag district and of the total voters, only 21 lakh have linked with Aadhaar.
If the remaining 9 lakh odd do not link up their voter ID cards with Aadhaar, they will end up losing voting right. Of the total 9 lakh voters, majority 7 lakh are from the city coming under six urban Assembly segments. “All those voters who have not linked up with Aadhaar are asked to do it by month-end,” said district collector N. Yuvaraj.
