'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8': Shahid in, Madhuri out
Mumbai: "Haider" star Shahid Kapoor is allset to replace Madhuri Dixit Nene on the next season of dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa".
It is for the first time that Shahid, considered one of the best dancers in Bollywood, is judging a reality show. Shahid, 34, is the new entry to the Colors reality show's judging panel. The names of his co-judges are yet to be announced.
Welcoming him onboard, Colors' CEO Raj Nayak tweeted, "Colors welcomes the King of dance & actor par excellence @shahidkapoor to #JhalakDikhlaJaa Coming soon. #YouthIcon."
The 48-year-old actress, who was the face of Jhalak for three years, said in a statement that she opted out of the judging panel of the dance reality show to concentrate on another project with the channel.
"I have been on Jhalak for three years now and I am taking a break to focus on other projects. I will be back shortly with probably something even more exciting. I wish Jhalak the very best for a spectacular season," Madhuri said.
Shahid, who recently wrapped up the shooting of "Udta Punjab", will be next seen in "Shaandar" opposite Alia Bhatt. "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa", the Indian version of BBC's
"Strictly Come Dancing", sees celebrity contestants fight it out on the dance floor with their choreographer partners.
