Mumbai: India's discarded all-rounder Yuvraj Singh never fails to speak to his father Yograj Singh at least once everyday. On Sunday – Father’s Day – it was no different but the senior Singh was pleasantly surprised when he heard his son say: "Love you my dad. I am proud to have a father like you".
"I then realised that it was Father's Day,” Yograj told this correspondent in an exclusive chat.
"Yuvi is loved by all and everybody throughout the world. I feel I am a blessed father to whom the great God has given such a son who is one out of billions in this world,” he added.
"I always call him the lion of my big family,” said Yograj.
The father-son duo stood by each other during their difficult times when the cricketer was diagnosed with cancer.
"Sher ka bacha kabhi ghas nahi khata (Baby-lions don't eat grass). This slogan was written and thrust upon in my family by Yuvi's grandfather".
"Be brave, fearless and strong. Death will fear you", we had told each other,” Yograj mentioned.
