Tirupati: Mango exports to grow

Indian mango pulp is facing competition from South Africa and Mexico
Tirupati: Mango pulp export is expected to touch 1, 65,000 metric tonnes during the current financial year as against 1, 25,000 tonnes in the corresponding year during the last year. The demand for mango pulp is increasing in Japan, UK, Singapore, and European Countries. They use mango pulp for making jam, mixed fruit juice, and mango concentrate in ice creams.
The traders in the Japan, UK. Singapore and European Countries will place orders to the food processing industries for mango pulp and import the stock.
The exporters will export the stock to those co-untries. The mango pulp stock will go from Chittoor district to Mumbai and from there to various countries.
Indian mango pulp is facing competition from South Africa and Mexico. While, Mexico is selling the mango pulp at 1200 dollars per kg, South America is selling at 1000 dollars. Indian mango pulp is being sold at Rs 1300 per tonne in the international market. But Indian mango pulp is known for its unique taste. That is why the importers prefer Indian mango pulp.
Galla Foods, Varsha Foods, Capricorn Foods, Srini Food Park, Sri Sannidhi Foods, Hayat Foods will prepare sufficient stocks of mango pulp and export to various countries depending upon the demand. The exporters decided 300 tonnes of mango to Middle East and Singapore. They will export another 2,000 tonnes of mango to Japan, UK and other countries.
The horticulture department is selecting the mango gardens and imparting necessary training to the traders and precautions to be taken in packing the mangoes and export it. For the first time, the European economic countries lifted the ban on mangoes after long a time.
During the last financial year, various food processing units in the district exported 1,02,670.75 metric tonnes of Alphonso mango pulp10,761 metric tonnes, mango concentrate 7,22.8 metric tonnes During the 2012-13, the exporters in Chittoor district exported Rs 679.52 crore.
Srini Food Park executive director Nalluri Ravindra said “Demand for mango pulp is increasing in the international market, because mango juice is available at lower price, so it is mixed in the mixed fruit juice. South America, Mexico countries are producing mango pulp at lesser price than India. Hike in mango price led to increase of mango pulp price this year. Less production led to 30 percent hike in mango prices. If mango production increases, price will fall. We will export mangos to Singapore, Japan and United Kingdom. next week.”
