Rajahmundry: To accommodate more number of devotees and help them get darshan of lord Satyanarayana at Annavaram in East Godavari, temple authorities intend to reduce the checkout time of its rooms to 12 hours against the usual 24 hours in a day during the ensuing Godavari Pushkaralu.

The temple has as many as 425 rooms at present and once a room is booked by a devotee, he can use it for about 24 hours. Now, temple authorities intend to reduce that time and allow devotees to stay for only for 12 hours in a day. Authorities are expecting nearly 50,000 to 60,000 devotees at the temple during the ensuing Pushkaralu.

In the earlier Pushkarams held in 2003, about 30,000 devotees visited the temple. The authorities say that they are expecting more number of devotees this at Annavaram.

The timings for darshan of the deity at the temple would also be extended. According to one schedule, darshan timings will be between 3.00 am and 11.00 pm in a day but with increased number of devotees, the timings will be extended between 2.00 am and 11.30 pm.

Authorities are also outsourcing temple priests to perform rituals as per the wish of devotees. They are expecting the performance of about 5,000 vratams during the fete.

Annavaram temple in-charge executive officer E. V. Jagannadha Rao said, “We are making all the arrangements for the devotees during the fete to help them get hassle free accommodation, darshan and performance of vratams.”
