The UP government also decided to felicitate the brothers
New Delhi/ Lucknow: Support poured in for brothers Raju and Brijesh, sons of a daily-wager, who cracked IIT entrance test with Rahul Gandhi assuring them all help and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announcing that his government will bear the expenses of their admission.
Sulabh International, a well known NGO, has also offered financial support to Raju and Brijesh, who ranked 167 and 410 rank respectively in the IIT JEE examinations.
“Money will not become a hurdle for the brothers and I will personally take care of their education and other needs. I want them to prepare for the best colleges and concentrate only on their education,” Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, director of Sulabh said.
Congress sources said that Rahul Gandhi spoke to the brothers this morning and subsequently directed local party leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tewari and his daughter and MLA Aradhana, to extend all necessary help to them. The UP government also decided to felicitate the brothers. Union HRD minister Smriti Irani said IIT admission fees for the brothers will be waived.
