Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to lift trash from your doorstep
Chief Minister also suggested an increase in the number of zones of the GHMC
Hyderabad: The door-to-door garbage collection work has been entrusted to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, during the review of the Swachh Hyderabad meeting on Saturday, directed the corporation not to give this job to any private agency.
The Chief Minister also suggested an increase in the number of zones of the GHMC. Apart from garbage collection, the GHMC has also been directed to monitor debris removal.
It was decided in the meet to constitute committees and sub-committees involving public representatives in demolition, removal of debris and re-use of building waste. A special committee for monitoring of 77 nalas and city sewerage drains is to be formed.
The TS CM pointed out that already there were 700 million litres of sewerage treated every day, and if in addition to that, 600 MLD is treated, the Musi River will have fresh water. He directed the officers to form a committee for regular supply of tap water to every house. There is need for vegetable, meat markets and slaughter houses. A committee will identify land for the establishment of these markets.
The government has decided to construct 200 model markets, 50 multi-level parking complex and 170 bus bays, 50 multi-purpose function halls and modernisation and beautification of 36 tanks, 150 parks 1,000 playgrounds, 1,000 gyms, 1,000 e-libraries, apart from 2 lakh houses for the poor and 18 ghats for washermen. The works will be taken up in phase-wise manner.
