OnePlus confirms that the OnePlus 2 will not be cheaper
OnePlus, the Chinese brand that shook up the smartphone market with the launch of the low-budget, high-end smartphone, the OnePlus One, is now ready to launch the second smartphone. The OnePlus 2 is speculated to be launched next month, but the device will be priced higher than the predecessor (at launch). The main reason for the high price is the high-end hardware.
OnePlus confirmed on their post that the forthcoming smartphone, the OnePlus 2, will be higher than the OnePlus 1, which was initiated at $322 (Approx Rs 20,000). “We can tell you now that the price of the 2 will certainly be higher than $322,” said the post. The main reason behind the price bump is the latest chipset from Qualcomm—the Snapdragon 810.
“The 810 is much more powerful than its younger counterpart, the 801, and is a much more expensive component. We’re paying more for the 810 than we ever have for the 801. In fact, the cost is almost 60% higher, and we’re not getting any discount,” continued the information on the OnePlus forum.
OnePlus also confirmed that the Snapdragon 810 chipset will be used on the OnePlus 2 and rumours of the overheating 810 chipset are baseless and untrue. Lastly, OnePlus also confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will have a higher build quality and is confident that the device will be another flagship killer.
