Rains cover both states, Telangana rivulets overflowing
Hyderabad: The southwest monsoon on Friday advanced into the remaining parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and has covered both states entirely. Currently, the monsoon is vigorous over Telangana and active over Coastal AP. The Indian Meteorological Department inference on Friday read that “The system may concentrate into a ‘depression’ during the next 24 hours”.
Since Thursday night, rain occurred at many places over Coastal AP, TS and isolated places in Rayalaseema. In TS, in the last 24 hours, Khanapur mandal of Warangal and Kunavaram in Khammam recorded heavy rainfall of 15 cm and 14 cm respectively.
Manthani in Karimnagar recorded 13 cm of rains, followed by Gudur, Dornakal, Narsampet of Warangal which recorded 10 cm, while Chinthakam, Garla and Chandrugonda of Khammam recorded 8 cm.
In Coastal AP, Amalapuram in East Godavari received the maximum rainfall — 11 cm — during the same period. Heavy showers were also recorded in Krishna, East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada districts.
The Sabari River in East Godavari region has been overflowing due to the rain. The Mulugu rivulets and rivulets in Nalagonda are also overflowing.
Heavy rains in coastal AP
Moderate to heavy rains lashed many parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Friday. A a well-marked low pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal, off the coast of northern coastal AP and south Odisha. IMD officials predicted that the low pressure system will turn into a depression over the next 24 hours and cause moderate to heavy rains over most places in Coastal AP nd heavy to very heavy rains over isolated places in northern Coastal AP for the next two days.
Godavari gets floodwaters
Revenue officials heaved a sigh of relief after the Godavari river received floodwaters on Friday. Taliperu, Indravathi and Sabari rivers received water due to rains in their catchment areas. The water level in the Godavari is 14 ft at Bhadrachalam and officials expect that there will be sufficient water in time for the Godavari Pushkaralu.

Telangana: Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh: Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Nellore and Prakasam.
