Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor starrer 'ABCD 2' rules day 1 at Box Office
'ABCD2' ranks 24th in the list of top 25 domestic first day openings
Mumbai: Remo D’Souza’s sequel to ‘Anybody Can Dance’ that opened on Friday has broken the Day 1 box office records of 2015, by collecting a total of over 14 crore. Despite the monsoons, fans flocked to theatres to watch Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and their dance squad shake a leg in 3D, 2D and 4DX!
This new achievement makes Varun the most bankable star today, even multi-star cast movies with bigger stars like Dil Dhadakne Do’, couldn’t make a mark for itself. This is also a personal achievement for Varun yet, and for Shraddha it’s her second best achievement after ‘Ek Villain’, which had a bigger day 1 opening
The break-dancers may have popped and locked their way into the record books, but they are still very far behind from the reigning champ, Shah Rukh Khan. According to Box Office India, ‘ABCD2’ ranks 24th in the list of ‘All Time Top 25 Domestic First Day Openings’.
While it is known fact that Bollywood hit a slump (in the first quarter) this year with a number of films failing to hit the mark, it is no wonder that films from 2012, 2013 and 2014 still reign supreme bagging the top ten spots. Of these film, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan hold two spots each. Salman Khan who has the highest number of 100 crore films has three spots in the top ten with 4th, 7th and 10th place, while Ajay Devgn takes up the last spot at number 2 with ‘Singham Returns’.
