Technical glitch in computer hits non-immigrant US visa services
New Delhi: In a major blow to all those Indians who wish to apply urgently for a US visa as a tourist or for business travel, the United States has cancelled all “non-immigrant” visa interviews from June 22 to 26 due to the “technical” problem it is facing world-wide on account of a hardware failure that has prevented the US State Department from processing and transmitting biometric data checks.
Those with interview dates from June 22 to 26 have been asked to reschedule their interviews to a date after July 6. “The Department of State continues to experience technical problems with our visa systems.
This is a global issue, and we are working around the clock to fix it. More than 100 computer experts from both the private and public sectors across the United States are working on this problem 24/7. That said, we do not expect the system will be online before next week. “Unfortunately, this has caused a serious delay in our operations.
As such, all non-immigrant visa interviews scheduled at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi or the U.S. Consulates General in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, or Hyderabad during the period June 22 to June 26, 2015, are cancelled.
Visa applicants with appointments during that same period are requested to reschedule their appointments for biometric enrolment and visa interview to a date after July 6,” a statement from New Delhi issued on behalf of the US Government said.
