New parking slot for railway staff at Chennai Central Station
Chennai: In a move to ease congestion and streamline passenger movement at Chennai central station, a new parking slot is being set up to provide space for railway employees in a month. The 1,000 square feet space has been developed adjacent to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) office that is opposite the elevator through which passengers arrive from Park railway station.
The new parking space will provide parking space for nearly 100 two-wheelers thereby reducing space constraints and making passenger movement smoother, officials said.“We have been working all possibilities to regulate passenger movement for the past one year and looking out for all the possibilities so as to make sure there is no rush during peak hours,” said K.K Ashraff, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Chennai Division. He added once the new slot come up, railway employees vehicles parked can be moved to the new area, thus widening the space for public commuting.
