Kochi school sends 9 students to IITs

A total of 114 students from the firm appeared for the Advanced exam

KOCHI: Kochi too had its share of joy as the IIT-JEE Advanced results were declared late on Wednesday and the details started trickling in on Thursday.

A total of nine students from Saraswathy Vidya-nikethan, Elamakkara, secured nine ranks in the top 1,000 list making it a rare achievement. One among them, Dhananjay R. Varma, also emerged the city topper and second in the state making it double delight.

Dhananjay secured an all-India rank of 279. The rest of the toppers and their ranks (in bracket) are as follows: Atul Antony Zachariahs (382), Kevin Abraham Cherian (451), Raghav Vaidyanathan (479), Rohit Rajeev (745), Mohan Nandakumar (784), Joshua Peter Ebe-nezer (891), Shashwat Shukla (914) and Aditya Vipin Thomas (962).

A total of 114 students from the firm appeared for the Advanced exam. All the qualified students from Saraswathy Vidyanikethan were given a felicitation at the school by students, parents and teaches and the training faculty at FIIT-JEE. The toppers thanked the parents and teachers for their support.

Interestingly, the majority of the toppers are aiming at Electrical and Electronics Engin-eering and Kharagpur is the prime destination. Bombay and Mad-ras IITs too are in demand, but most of them are not sure whether they will be able to secure admission in these three IITs. The next branch in demand is Mechanical.

Some of them have research aspirations while others have set their sights currently on IIT study only. All of them except Atul Antony Zachariahs secured above 95 percent marks in their board exams while Atul secured 93.4 percent.
