Five killed in two road mishaps in Prakasam district

Ongole: Five persons including an aged woman were killed on the spot and eight others were injured in two separate road accidents on NH-5 in Prakasam district in the wee hours of Thursday. Three persons including an elderly woman were killed on the spot and four others sustained injuries when the Innova Car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry coming in the opposite direction near Tanguturu in Prakasam district.
According to Tanguturu sub-inspector P. Siva Kumar, the victim K.Sasi Kumar, 35, his mother-in-law Vijaya Lakshmi, 60, along another four members were going to Tirupati from Vijayawada. When they reached near IOC in Tanguturu, the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry coming in opposite direction. Sasi Kumar, Vijaya Lakshmi and driver Bharat Kumar, 25, were killed on the spot and four persons sustained injuries.
The injured have been shifted to the local government hospital for treatment. Sasi Kumar was a softw-are engineer in Kentucky State in the US. He came to attend a relatives marriage in Vijayawada. He has to return to the US on June 27. While going to Tirupati, he died in the road mishap.
Sub-Inspector Siva Kumar said, “Negligence and rash driving of the driver led to the road mishap.” The police registered a case. In another incident, two persons were killed on the spot and four others sustained injuries when the Tata Tavera in which they were travelling hit a lorry at Yedugundlapadu village under Maddipadu mandal of Prakasam district in the wee hours.
According to Maddi-padu Sub-Inspector P. Devakumar, deceased P. Eswara Reddy, 58 and Madhura Nagaraju, 35, were returning from Kakinada. When they reached near Yenugundalpadu village, the car driver lost control over the vehicle and hit the lorry.
Eswara Reddy and Madhura Nagarju were killed on the spot and four others travelling in car sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Ongole city. Police registered a case.
