Bengaluru robber’s ruse to steal: My pigeon is on your terrace!
BENGALURU: With the arrest of four burglars, the Central Division police on Thursday claimed to have cracked 12 burglary cases. The police have recovered stolen goods worth Rs 20 lakh from the accused.
On a tip off, the Cubbon Park police arrested Manjunath alias pariwala (pigeon) Manja, 30, and recovered 400 grams of jewelry worth Rs 12 lakh. The police said Manja used to target small apartments and buildings that had 10 or more houses. He then approached the security guard of the building stating that his pigeon was stuck on the terrace. After he was allowed inside, Manja entered houses that were locked and escaped with valuables and cash.
Based on some clues, he was arrested and seven cases registered against him in Cubbon Park, Halsoor Gate and Chickpet police stations were solved. Manja had over 60 cases against him, the police said. In another case, Ulsoor Gate police have arrested Harshan, Surendra and Jal Singh alias Prem Singh and recovered 15 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 7.5 lakh and 40 grams of gold ornaments.
The accused broke into RJM Silver Works on JM Road in Halsoor Gate police limits and made away with 15 kg of silver ornaments sometime ago. Jal Singh was arrested from Rajasthan, the police said. With the arrest of the trio, Ulsoorgate police claimed to have solved five burglary cases.
