1.32 crore square feet capital complex for Andhra Pradesh

Government complex will be constructed with active public space in the high security zone

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh will be constructing the capital complex in Amaravati on 1.32 crore square feet built up area, making it one of the biggest in the country.

The complex will have the Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, High Court complex, guest houses and other important buildings.

According to officials with the Capital City Development and Management Corporation, the smart government complex will become functional by 2018. The corporation has sought request for proposals from consultants for detailed architecture and design of the capital complex to be submitted by July 10 this year.

“Amaravati is planned to be developed in an area of 271 sq km. The seed capital area of Amaravati will be spread over 16 sq km as the central business district. It will have administrative buildings such as government buildings and institutions like the State Assembly, Secretariat, High Court complex, Raj Bhavan and directorates. The complexes have to be designed to world class planning principles, urban design. They will be distinct and reflect the heritage and culture of AP,” corporation officials said.

The administrative buildings like Secretariat and Assembly will be coming up along the Krishna. The government complex will be constructed with active public space in the high security zone.

The corporation has also invited expression of interest for financial services and management firms to prepare a business plan and financing strategy to develop Amaravati. The strategy include optimal funding from the state government through budgetary resources, Central government schemes and other means.
