Student's father 'attacked' on school campus

An FIR is yet to be registered against the school
COIMBATORE: A father of a Class II student in a popular school in the city has lodged a police complaint that he was assaulted by goons on the campus of the school in which his son was admitted.
The 6-year-old boy, J. Ajay is not being allowed to step inside the school as his mother, who worked as an Economics teacher in the same school, had allegedly asked for the dues on her pay.
The boy’s father R Jagadeeshwaran, who is in the portable generator sales and service business, staged a protest along with members of the parents association in front of the chief education officer’s office on Thursday, demanding action against the popular school.
A complaint has been lodged at the Peelamedu police station, but an FIR is yet to be registered against the school. According to Jagadeeswaran, he had paid a capitation fee of Rs 40,000 last year to get his son admitted to the school in class one. Later, his wife J. Dhanalakshmi joined the school as economics teacher. The school assured her a salary of Rs 25,000 per month as well as 50 per cent concession for their son’s education.
However, the school had not given her an appointment letter. When she asked for it in June 2014, she was dismissed from service and refused pay for the period she worked.
“We requested the school management to adjust the salary dues against the school fees for our son. But the school refused to do so. They stopped giving any notification of exams and events happening in the school. They didn’t even send our son’s progress report card,” said Jagadeeshwaran.
In one year, he has paid Rs 40,000 capitation fees, Rs 18,000 school fee Rs 5,000 for school uniform and books and Rs 2,000 for shoes which the students are not allowed to buy from outside. “I want the school to return the capitation fee amount and my wife’s salary,” he said.
