Karnataka: Congress leaders with criminal record unlikely to get tickets for coming BBMP poll
Bengaluru: In an effort to woo voters of the city, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar declared that a manifesto highlighting the party’s vision for the city would be released in the run-up to BBMP polls.
He told the media that the party would not field any candidate with a criminal record. “Our exclusive manifesto for BBMP will speak about our extensive plans for Brand Bengaluru,” he said adding the party would soon set up three committees - campaign committee, manifesto committee and elections committee - in a day or two after duly consulting with CM Siddaramaiah. "We have not finalised names for these committees yet," he added.
Dr Parameshwar said the party would field candidates with clean background but it does not mean anyone facing a complaint will be rejected. "When we say candidates without criminal record, it means those who have been found guilty by any judicial or legal institution," he added.
Board post List ready, says Dr G
KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar on Wednesday apologised to party workers for inordinate delay in filling various posts and positions in state run boards and corporations. “The list of probable candidates for boards and corporations has been finalised by the party already. It needs ratification by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He might do it in a week's time,” he added.
