Union Water Resources Ministry meeting on regulation of water allocation

Operation protocol draft was sent by KRMB to both the states six months ago
Hyderabad: A year after bifurcation and constitution of separate boards for Krishna and Godavari to regulate allocations by both TS and AP, the Union Water Resources Ministry is convening a meeting on Thursday for the first time in New Delhi. It will also decide on the powers of the Boards.
Additional secretary Dr Amarjith Singh convened the meeting after complaints by states as well as by Boards that nothing has moved so far to regulate water release.
As the monsoon has started the Krishna River Management Board felt it necessary that the Centre should address the problems. The KRMB did not meet before the Khariff season as the Centre should have notified the functioning of both the Krishna and Godavari River Management Boards which it did not done so far. Jurisdiction, powers to regulate, operation protocol etc has to be decided with the consent of the two states, which also did not happen.
Operation protocol draft was sent by KRMB to both the states six months ago but the states did not respond so far.
