Heavy rain likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

In Khammam, Thollada and Garla recorded 9 cm each

Hyderabad: The IMD has revised its southwest monsoon prediction and issued a notice of “Heavy to Very Heavy Rain” for isolated places in Coastal AP and “Heavy Rainfall” for isolated places in Telangana.

According to IMD reports, for the next three days, heavy to very heavy rainfall would lash places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Nellore and Prakasam of Coastal AP and heavy rains would occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam of Telangana.

“A low pressure area has formed over west-central Bay of Bengal, off north Coastal AP-South Odisha coast on Wednesday,” said M. Narasimha Rao, assistant meteorologist, IMD-Hyderabad. Currently, the southwest monsoon is active over TS and coastal AP.

In coastal AP, Tiruvuru in Krishna district recorded the maximum rainfall of 12 cm on Wednesday. In TS, Julurpad mandal of Khammam district recorded the maximum rainfall of 13 cm followed by Enkuru mandal in Khammam which recorded 11 cm. In Khammam, Thollada and Garla recorded 9 cm each and Aswaraopeta and Pinapaka recorded 6 cm each.

“Scattered to moderate rains are being recorded in Rayalaseema, which are in the normal range,” Mr Narasimha Rao said.
