BJP vehicle rally kicks off in Kerala

O. Rajagopal kicked off his ‘Rath Yatra’ from Vellanad panchayat
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP candidate O. Rajagopal kicked off his ‘Rath Yatra’ from Vellanad panchayat for the Aruvikkara byelection. The third stage of Rajagopal’s campaign trail began with much fanfare and he urged the tribals at Aryanad to use their discretion while casting their votes.
It was earlier reported that the homeless tribals in the hamlets of Arippa are unlikely to exercise their franchise. Rajagopal while addressing the tribals urged them to utilise their votes and promised them that their issue would be taken up.
He assured them that the only political party to come to the aid of the tribals has been the BJP and in their fight for land, he would offer his wholehearted support. “In Independent India, tribals and Dalits have been fighting for land which has been their birth right,,” said Rajagopal.
“They were asked to leave their forest without taking their yields from the region. It’s not only them, even the wild animals were forced to run away and seek food from the local areas which has caused enough headache to the administration and the people alike,” added Rajagopal.
V. Muraleedharan, while inaugurating Rajagopal’s vehicle campaign rally, said that finance minister K. M. Mani’s announcement that the state has been exempted from being given rubber subsidy is a blatant lie.
He alleged that both the LDF and UDF have a fear of being defeated in the byelection that they are resorting to making baseless promises to the voters. “The UDF government has never done anything for the rubber farmers in the state. Unfortunately, they are now shedding crocodile tears when they should have put pressure on the central government to provide subsidy to the rubber farmers,” said Muraleedharan.
