Cyberabad police book landlords for not keeping tenant details

Forms for the directory were distributed through police stations and local committees
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police, which is creating a directory of city tenants in order to keep track on terror cells, has started booking cases against building owners for ignoring orders.
Police say a case for concealing information will be booked against whoever refuses to give information about tenants. The forms for the directory were distributed through police stations and local committees. However, some house owners refused to give information. A fake currency gang from West Bengal and Jharkhand stayed in such an owner’s house weeks ago.
The idea of a tenant directory was thought of after terror suspects stayed on the city’s outskirts to execute the Dilsukhnagar blast.Malkajgiri police, which busted the fake currency racket, arrested the house owner, S.K. Sultan, for renting his house to the gang. Police booked him and another person named Raj Mohammed, who is now absconding.
During the Dilsukhnagar blast probe, NIA found that terrorists had stayed on the city’s outskirts. The police then started developing a software to feed digitally the details of outsiders staying in the city with the help of house and building owners.
“The forms were given to all house owners. A few refused. We will book cases against them,” said a police official from Hyderabad.
