Bachchans in trouble for ‘insulting’ the national flag

A case stating Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan were seen covering their bodies with the national flag in an insulting manner has been filed in a Ghaziabad court. Chetan Dhiman, the complainant said the actors were seen with the national flag during the India-Pakistan World Cup cricket match in Adelaide on February 15.

Dhiman’s lawyer alleged that the complainant and five other witnesses saw the actor wearing the tri-colour flag. He also mentioned the actor has downgraded the country’s reputation through his actions.

According to reports, the actors’ actions were covered under The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, and the Flag Code of India, 2002, and both should be summoned before the court to face trial. Cricketers are often seen wrapping the national flag around them in celebration during the victory lap, with no intention of disrespecting the nation.
