Apart from MS and Sony, other publishers showcase some amazing games too
Hyderabad: While Microsoft and Sony were busy trading blows, the other publishers took their chance to showcase some amazing games at their E3 conferences. Bethesda had the biggest moments of the show with their inevitable Fallout 4 reveal backed up by a DOOM reboot. Fallout 4 is shaping up to be a massive customisable open world experience, one that would truly justify the ungodly amount of time they have taken to come up with the new game. DOOM was also a big hit in an age where most developers are going for photorealistic games, blurring the lines between video games, movies and reality. DOOM says, “Hell no!” and goes guns blazing into hordes of demons with its old school gaming feel and violence.
EA had a rather forgettable conference barring an interesting indie platformer, Unravel and of course Star Wars Battlefront that brings to life large scale combat in everyone’s favourite universe. Not only does it feature full class based shooter combat, complete with vehicles and airships and of course, boss duels between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker!
Ubisoft went about business as usual but focused more on Rainbow Six Siege and other IPS as opposed to Assassins Creed. Rainbow Six Siege seems to be shaping up well as a highly competitive game with completely destructible maps giving you complete freedom in how you want to approach each mission. The game will also feature the popular Terrohunt mode, which can be played solo or in a four-player coop!
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon makes a return with Wildlands as the military shooter turns its attention to the war on drugs. The theme of the day seems to be open worlds as Wildlands will have MASSIVE open worlds with missions across the globe with friends dropping in for coop. Though from the gameplay reveal, it feels a lot like what The Division has to offer. My favourite new IP, however, had to be For Honor, a melee combat game that pits Vikings, Knights and Samurai against each other in a PVP arena with dozens of AI in the mix. It looks like we are in for an amazing 12 months of video games, even if a few do get delayed.
