Surrey players were in tears post Henriques-Burns collision, reveals KP
Johannesburg: Maverick batsman Kevin Pietersen, who was making his final appearance for Surrey, revealed that his teammates were in tears in the dressing room as Moises Henriques and Rory Burns were receiving treatment post their dangerous collision on Sunday.
Both the players went unconscious after they collided while going for a catch in the T-20 match against Sussex. Henriques broke his jaw in three places after he was struck by Burns's knee, while Burns sustained injuries on head and face.
Pietersen said he was standing at cow corner and he could see it happening before they collided, adding that he kept thinking one of the guys would call, but then, he thought that at least one would stop. But then, bang, bang, Sport24 reported.
He exclaimed that it was absolutely sickening and when those guys went down and did not move and it hit some of our guys very hard. There was some raw emotion clearly visible which one can understand when the team has gone through the death of a teammate.
He also added that the players were very upset even after the chairman came in the dressing room and tried to lift the mood.
