Secunderabad Cantonment Board, ward members spar over MP Ch Malla Reddy
Hyderabad: The allegations against Malkajgiri MP Ch. Malla Reddy regarding illegally linking the sewerage line of his function hall to the main municipal truck line, resurfaced during Tuesday’s Board meeting.
There was disagreement between the SCB CEO and ward members on the inspection carried out by engineers.
The SCB said that the MP had not cut the road and cannot be fined. Countering this, ward members presented pictures stating that the MP had violated the norms and should be punished.
In the previous Board meeting, ward members had alleged that the MP had laid a sewer line from the main JICA pipeline to his function hall by violating the Cantonment Act, following which, SCB president Ajai Singh Negi had ordered an inspection.
The SCB CEO said, “Firstly, JICA main lines do not fall near the MP’s function hall, it is the Kukatpally diversion line. All houses that had open sewerage lines had connected their pipelines to the Kukatpally diversion line, including the MP; the road cutting was done by the GHMC, how can we imposed a fine on the MP?”
Disagreeing to this, J. Rama Krishna, member of Ward no. 5 said, “The MP got the SCB to lay a sewer line from his function hall and connected it to the sewer main of a nearby residential colony.”
