Jaipur: The head of Ajmer Sharif Dargah on Tuesday appealed to Muslims to observe World Yoga Day on June 21 and slammed "fundamentalist organisations" for "creating confusion" in the minds of youth of the community about performing the exercise.
"It would be completely wrong to link Yoga with any religion and voice of fundamentalists creating confusion in the minds of Muslim people should be rejected out rightly," Diwan Sayed Zainual Aabedeen Ali Khan said in a statement.
"Yoga is purely a physical exercise, and is not connected with any religious activity or Namaz," he said.
At the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United Nations along with other countries will observe the World Yoga Day on June 21, he said, adding that, hence people should observe it without any doubt as it would be beneficial for people with diseases like Asthma, and heart ailments.
