AP plans ‘pulse survey’ in August

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government will be conducting “pulse survey” in August to prepare a socio-economic citizen database. The Smart Pulse Survey data will be used to build a Core People Database of AP. Field surveyors will enter data directly onto their tablets that will be connected to a portal. The survey that had been planned last year in October and is being implemented now. The survey will be part of the wider plan to set up the AP State Enterprise Architecture.
The data seeded through Aadhaar cards to seven major departmental databases by the AP government does not include several socio-economic details like ownership of housing, vehicle, land and livestock, educational and employment status, driving licence details, number of people in a family and disability. The smart survey will provide all these details. The AP government has also decided to have tri-card system for citizens. Tax payers will be issued separate coloured ration cards. Those above the Below Poverty Line and and those below the BPL be categorised separately and get different coloured ration cards. The move is aimed at weeding out bogus beneficiaries and to see that taxes are collected promptly .
