B Tech student’s statements confound cops
Hyderabad: The self immolation of a BTech student in Moinabad has turned mysterious as his relatives alleged that he attempted suicide due to harassment by senior students. Police say the injured man, K. Shiva Mahesh, 21, gave contradictory versions in his statement. Meanwhile, Shiva is critical at the Osmania general hospital with 90% burns on his body.
Mahesh’s sister K. Bhargavi said the family has many doubts about the suicide attempt. “He had been living in Hyderabad for over a year without any problem and was attending classes. Why should they wait till the examination to expel him if his certificates were not proper? My brother told the police that some students attacked him. We want to know the truth,” she said.
Meanwhile, the cops are baffled by his statements in hospital. “He first told his name wrong and said he was a student of another college. He also gave us wrong details and contacts when we asked him about his family. Only later he gave us correct information. Many things he said are contradictory,” said inspector G. Srinivas of Moinabad. “We are investigating all angles,” he added.
