Nobody can stop the release of Rajini Murugan: Lingusamy
At a recently held event of the Sivakarthikeyan-Keerthi Suresh starrer Rajini Murugan, producer Lingusamy vouched that he would even sell his property to release the movie as scheduled. Reminiscing his entry into cinema, Lingusamy says, “When my brother Bose and I came from our remote village to Chennai, we had a only passion for Tamil cinema and faith in ourselves. So, I have nothing to lose,” and adds, “One of my family astrologers told my mom that ‘Lingu cannot make films at all in his life’. Within three months, I got my debut offer Aanandham and told my brother to invite the same astrologer to the preview. There will be so many ‘Uttama Villains’ coming our way.”
Lingusamy says how failure is not new to him. “After giving a massive hit like Run, I gave the flop film Ji, and then it was the blockbuster Sandakozhi. My next Bheema was a flop but the subsequent Paiyaa was a hit. So, hits and misses are common for anyone. My second half starts now and we are confident that we will bounce back.” The emotionally charged Lingu told the Rajini Murugan team not to worry about what others talk about the film. “I committed Rajini Murugan before Siva’s last hit Varutthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam. So, I am sure it will get released as planned.”
Heaping praises on Rajinikanth’s gesture, he says, “I was initially apprehensive about the title Rajini Murugan, as the Superstar has recently refused to allow the use of his name in a Hindi film title. I knew that even Shankar sir met thespian Sivaji Ganesan’s family and took permission for the title Sivaji. I had asked for an appointment to meet Rajini sir, and one day he came on the phone. Even as I was explaining how the title is apt for the film and that there was nothing derogatory about it, he did not allow me to say anything further. He said, ‘I know you. Please go ahead’. He also advised me to check and clear with Soundarya, as there was a case pending about his name appearing in a title. That’s the greatness of Rajini sir.”
