KARIMNAGAR: Superintendent of Police D. Joel Davis advised Maoists to join mainstream and to utilise rehabilitation packages of government. He was speaking at a programme after distributing cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to 22 Naxal-affected families here on Monday.
Mr Davis opined that the Maoists were achieving nothing by following outdated theories. The extremists are killing innocent people and destroying property of government. They are stalling developmental activities. Many villages are not able to see growth with violent acts by the Maoists, he flayed.
The SP said that officials were taking up various developmental programmes in Naxal-hit areas as people are rejecting Left-wing extremism. He urged rural public to extend cooperation to police and authorities to witness development. He suggested members of the families to use the grant for long-term needs.
