Kozhikode airport clash: Hand over 9 CISF personnel by 10 am tomorrow, says police

The list of nine CISF personnel was handed over to the force on Tuesday

Kozhikode: Kerala Police has asked CISF to hand over to them nine of their personnel allegedly involved in the June 10 clashes between the central armed personnel and AAI employees at Karipur international airport, which led to death of a jawan, by 10 AM on Tuesday.

The list of nine CISF personnel was handed over to the force on Tuesday after viewing CCTV footage of the incident, Kondotty Circle Inspector B Santosh, the Investigating Officer in the cases, told PTI.

Meanwhile, AAI Supervisor Aji Kumar was on Tuesday remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate court at Manjeri. He was arrested yesterday after his discharge from hospital. Four CISF jawans and 10 AAI employees have so far been arrested in connection with the violence on June 10.

The dispute over a CISF man insisting that an official of AAI's Fire Force department undergo security clearance had led to a verbal duel between the two, following which clashes erupted between the two sides.

A bullet from CISF Sub-Inspector S S Choudhary's firearm had accidentally hit the jawan, killing him. The SI had suffered injuries in his left palm during the incident and is being treated.

The airport had been temporarily closed after the violent incidents and flights were diverted to Nedumbassery airport in Kochi on the night of June 10. Flight operations resumed the next day.
