Kochi Corporation inks deal with Chamber on phase 2

Civic body proposes RS 90 lakh for the next phase of development.

KOCHI: The beautification of the Ernakulam Broadway is entering the second phase with the City Corporation signing an agreement with the Kerala Merchants Chamber of Commerce for the next phase of development and maintenance.

The civic body has already spent Rs 75 lakh for the renovation of Broadway and has proposed Rs 90 lakh project for the next phase. The agreement signing ceremony will be held on Tuesday.

The Chamber will fix 52 lamp posts with lamp shades from Shanmugham Road up to Canal Bridge.

Once the parking facility is set up, the Chamber will regulate parking. Mobile open air food kiosks of reputed restaurants will be another feature that will be added in the next phase of development. The food kiosks will function in the night from 9 pm to 1 am.

According to civic authorities, Broadway will have modern amenities and basic facilities once the project is completed.
